We went to a mountain resort today, the band and I, to shoot videos for our upcoming EP launch. We are releasing it next month! :)

The resort belongs to our friend Karlo, who is the sound engineer and keyboardist of our other band, Polar Depth. So, we went, and we told the guard we were his friends, and with that power, being friends of Karlo, better than any authoritative I.D., we set off to find a suitable spot to shoot.

Pjoe and I arrived ahead of Dave, and while waiting for him we had the brilliant (but highly predictable) idea to camwhore.

After which Pjoe discovered an old, authentic airplane.

Dave finally arrived, and we set off for the resort cafe. The boys set upon performing some sort of mysterious sorcery upon the video camera, involving copious amounts of tape and incoherent mutterings.

After which they went out to discuss some very important matters involving a certain pretty girl who would be viewed in much better perspective from the railing.

I haven’t any more photos as we went to shoot videos after that.

Before we left my house, however, my husband was able to snap a shot of all three of us.

I’m very excited for the videos! I have a very good feeling about them. :)

I got some pretty cool shots today with my Canon Ixus 130. I tweaked the curves just a tiny bit in Photoshop, but otherwise nothing else was changed. The light was very bad that day, but I thought I’d take advantage of it and just focus on the scenery.

I managed to take a shot of Dave and Pjoe down a hill.

We also found a big old tree with enormous roots and branches and sat underneath it. We were very respectful.

We found some cool fir trees, but by then the light was leaving very fast, so we snapped some quick shots and got this:

I think those shots were pretty cool.

Here are some dumb ones we took with a timer and a tripod, when the light was still decent.

I found this one outtake particularly funny – Dave had the brilliant idea to lie down… not realizing his head would be on the downward slope.

He spent the next 10 minutes complaining that his neck was killing him. Lol.

I always have fun hanging out with my bandmates. They’re not only my fellow musicians, they’re my good, great, spectacular friends!

So I was working on some music last week for this short video that my good friend Bagane, who totally did my awesome wedding video,  was doing with famous lookbooker Cheyser Pedregosa, better known as fashion blogger Walking Recessionista from Davao City.

I did the tracks with some noise/distort samples from Ableton, a few electronic piano ones from JamStudio, as well as cleaning up the reverb, adding distorts and delays, and the vocals in Cool Edit Pro. Lol, talk about software overload. I use all three and love them all!

That aside, another video I did the musical scoring for is this short ad for Alchemy of Vision and Light, directed by my good friend Marky, starring… well, me!

I totally did the music for this on my phone. Haha! I love that it is almost impossible to find a way NOT to make music these days!

We’ve been spending the past few weeks holed up in my house, tuning out the regular world, zoning out while listening to the same notes over and over again, eating greasy takeout and making wonderful, wonderful music.

Making music is really hard and challenging sometimes, but in the end it’s all worth it, especially if you’re making it with good, talented friends and sharing it with awesome people.

Well, I haven’t updated my blog about my wedding, but here’s a couple videos and some photos. :) My husband and I are doing well in our new life together, and I guess true happiness really is possible. Thank You, God, for being so good to us.

We were featured in a quarter page spread in Sun Star Cebu on Valentines Day. Thanks Sunstar for knockin’ my age back a year, now I feel younger. hehe.

We were also featured in a full page spread today on Cebu Daily News, two whole months after our wedding! Imagine that, we’re newsworthy! Lol.

Waddup! Jad Montenegro and Polar Depth have been busy! First off, we have two major gigs coming up so check out these posters:

Next, my house has been declared the unofficial arranging, practicing and general meet-up place for Polar Depth and my band Jad Montenegro, so here’s a few shots of the guys arranging our newest PD song, Habit in my living room. Pardon all my haphazardly piled musical instruments!

We’ve also been going in an acoustic direction with Jad Montenegro so we’ve been having plenty of practices at my house as well, generally just shooting the shit with the boys and stuff. We’ve got some crazy ideas cooking.

2011 looks like it’s gonna be an awesome year. I’m excited!

Hi guys! I just wanted to make a quick update now before I get too busy in the coming weeks.

I went home before I could say thanks personally in the tv interview, but I want to say here now that I love you guys at MDS, thank you for always showing your support for the local music scene. Many many thanks and all our gratitude for the honor you gave me and Arnel. :)

2. I’m getting married!

That means I’m caught up in wedding-y things and our album recording is on hold, but after January we will be back on it full-throttle! MDS even did a feature on my engagement here haha:

3. Upcoming projects for next year are Illustration workshops held by The Boy (my comic book illustrator fiancee John Amor) and DIY workshops for kids by me!

4. A purely acoustic post-rock influenced album after the first one is released – blame it on my bandmates and mine’s musical schizophrenia. No percs, just string arrangements. It will definitely be a challenge and one we can’t wait to tackle!

Thanks go out to my talented bandmates and great friends Dave Ibao (drums) and Pjoe Sabanpan (bass), who are always there to help flesh out creative arrangements and turn them into beautiful music. I am blessed to work with you.

5. Polar Depth is recording another album (I’m the new vocalist!) and we have a new single out called Flight! Thanks go out to Karlo Mercado for coming to me with this project and asking me to be the new vocalist. It is truly an honor since even before I sang for you guys I’ve always though this band was the shiznit.

Well, that’s about it, I think. :) In the meantime, we continue to play in various gigs around the city. :) See you around, and as always, KEEP SUPPORTING LOCAL MUSIC! :)

The Muzika Del Sur MusicFest 2010 is happening on August 22 at the Damosa Gateway, Lanang, Davao City. Featured artists are Davao’s Jad Montenegro, Lost Tribe, Comradz, and Skeights. Champ, KBC, and Gasulina will represent Cagayan de Oro. Other Mindanao musicians who will perform are BlackDize (General Santos City), Gravity 8 (Tagum City), DOGFIGHT (Butuan City), and Sunset November (Cotabato City). Skyway Traffic from Manila will also be performing.
